5.1 ERROR INDICATION
To help the user or the service personnel promptly locate the cause of a problem (if any), the
machine incorporates the self-diagnostic functions which show intermittent errors and fatal errors.
5.1.1 Intermittent Errors
If an intermittent error occurs, the machine stores the error code into the EEPROM on the main
PCB. The latest error code can be printed out onto the recording paper by using the dump feature
(Function code 05) described in Subsection 4.3.4. The table below lists error codes which would
be printed out by the feature.
Error code Probable causes LED
8B Recording head overheated, according to the internal
resistance of the thermistor.
ERROR ON
A1 No recording paper loaded or the paper compartment cover
opened, according to the PE/cover sensor.
PAPER ON
(A4 Faulty of white level data.)
AB Home positioning of the copyboard screen failed. (The CIS
cannot detect either of the black HP marks on the screen.)
(B1 Upper limit of clamp PWM value.)
(B2 Lower limit of clamp PWM value. This error occurs also if
interference light comes into the CIS units.)
(B3 Upper limit of gain PWM value. This error occurs also if the
printer-copyboard interface cable is not connected.)
(B4 Lower limit of gain PWM value.)
E6 Write error in EEPROM.
F6 PC interface error.
NOTE: Errors enclosed with parentheses in the above table can be printed out only during setting
of the scanning compensation parameters stored in the EEPROM (Function code 55 in Subsection
4.3.1).
Out of the above errors, errors 8B and A1 will stop the operation and cause the ERROR and
PAPER LEDs to come on, respectively, signaling user intervention is required. Other errors will
not affect the subsequent operation.
